About covid-19 and food safety in India

Change in consumer perceptions, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, provides an opportunity to strengthen India’s long standing food safety issues.

The gap between policy and implementation needs to be addressed to achieve this and to ensure regulations do not steer producers away from formal markets and into informal settings such as wet markets.
